East Oxfords Wooden Waves

The Meadow Lane Ramps built by the OWP nearly 10 years ago were always intended as a temporary facility while more permanent home in Oxford was found.
Our gorgeous 4ft mini-spine ramp was totally rebuilt and widened to 32 feet in summer 2005 and is in very good nick, was resurfaced in 2007 and we're looking to rebuild again in 2008.
The ramps are constructed entirely from timber and over the past decade have been ridden to hell and back, as result some ramps are more than a little worse for wear. The larger ramps at the site were taken down in August 2008 as they had become unsafe. The mini spine remains and we’re keeping it going. New ridign surface scheduled for Autumn 2008 (summer has been ruuuuuubish)
It is one of best spined mini ramps in the UK and provide endless fun for Oxford's skaters and BMX'ers.

Weather

If the weather has been dry, a brief shower will render unskatable for maybe 20 minutes as long as you do your bit to sweep the water off. Brooms are provided.
The ramps are wooden and get wet very quickly, the chances are if it's been pouring with rain for a few days you will need a good days sun and a breeze to dry it off.
If you're traveling down and weather looks iffy it's a good idea to ask the crew at SS20 what the state of play is.

Beginners

If you're a beginner and want the ramps to yourself for a bit it's best to get down to the park before midday as you're most likely to get plenty of time and space to yourself - ask any other skaters for help and they will be more than happy to oblige.

We need YOUR support

Unfortunately due to the irreparable state of the park and the ever increasing running costs, 2007 looks to be the final year of the Meadow Lane Ramps.
OWP has stepped up its game in campaigning for a new site and your support is needed if we are to succeed.
If you want to keep riding in Oxford , you need to let your local Oxford City Councillor know.
Write them a letter/email and tell them what the ramps mean to you, why they are great and how important it is that there is a skate park in Oxford. Do it.
